Abstract

UVA is now thought to be as harmful and carcinogenic to human skin as UVB, in which UVA induced DNA damage cyclobutane pyrimidine dimes (CPDs). Some drugs have been reported to develop severe UV-associated drug eruptions as an adverse effect, indicating that UVA as well as UVB is functioning for production of CPDs in the presence of those drugs and have a risk of developing skin cancers by its long term effects. We conducted a survey to detect the enhanced TT dimers induced by UVA using isolated DNA of several photosensitivity reported drugs with high performance liquid chromatography.
