Abstract

Background: In the April 2003 issue of Pediatrics the AAP issued a statement on eye examinations in children. It focused on the importance of early detection and treatment of ocular disorders in children to avoid visual impairment. This study assessed how pediatric residents feel they are equipped to handle this important responsibility and examined local residency program’s success in teaching this part of the physical exam to their residents. Methods: An anonymous survey was designed and distributed to pediatric residents in the NYC area.
