Abstract

Since the pioneering work of Jan Tinbergen (1939), macro-econometric model building has gone through a history of 40 years. Like the growth of a human being, its evolution exhibited three stages, namely, infancy, adolescence, and adulthood, or more appropriately, apprenticeship, journeymanship, and mastership.
