Abstract
This paper describes a case of synchronous triple cancer of the different organs (the rectum, kidney, and left breast) which were resected on an one-step approach, with a review of the literature. A 74-year-old woman was seen at the hospital because of a feeling of anal prolapse when she evacuated, and was diagnosed as having a rectal polyp by digital examination of the rectum. Then a left kidney tumor was diagnosed by occult blood of urine, and a left breast tumor was palpated. Left radical nephrectomy, left modified radical mastectomy (Patey) and transanal polypectomy were performed on June 17, 1993. In histopathological diagnosis, the tumors were renal cell carcinoma in the kidney, papillotubular carcinoma in the breast and well differenciated adenocarcinoma in the rectum.
