Abstract

THE author of this book is an ophthalmic surgeon. His original purpose, he states, "was to describe and suggest the reform of certain anomalies that exist in present-day educational and surgical practice". As he proceeded in this enterprise, he encountered other lions in the way, in pursuit of which he has wandered down side-paths far removed from the beaten track. These digressions, in spite of a fluent style and much erudition, make the book difficult reading and involve much repetition. Rational Medicine Comments on Social Medicine, Surgery and Education.
