Abstract

The images of the Branch Davidians and their leader — David Koresh — as discussed in popular sources proved to be wrong. In spite of how they had certain beliefs and had been involved in some actions that could not be automatically understood by many, what happened did not necessarily imply mental unbalance. As such, reading through common literature on the Branch Davidians reveals that their views cannot be grasped easily and that they appear to have been deranged to some degree. While some sources do not adopt this view on them collectively, this was said to be true for Koresh himself. It is generally agreed that he was able to influence others for his sexual perverse and megalomaniacal purposes. The Branch Davidians are perceived not only as peace-loving Bible students but a heavily armed apocalyptic group with violent expectations. This chapter discusses some aspects of the Branch Davidian theology and the various beliefs.
