Abstract
A substance which inhibits the peristaltic reflex of small intestine has been isolated from extracts of wheat gluten by chromatography and electophoresis. The nature of the substance has been investigated and it has been found to contain adenosine. The results show that adenosine is responsible for the pharmacological activity.
