Abstract

The object of the photometer is to measure the variation of sensitivity of the eye for different conditions of the visual mechanism and the principle employed is that of binocular matching, in which a patch viewed in the left eye is compared in intensity with a similar patch viewed in the right eye A calibrated photometer wedge provides the necessary intensity control. Applications of the apparatus include measurements on the effect of adaptation and on the extent of the loss of vision in cases of uniocular blindness.
