Abstract
Robert Frost is a brilliant poet in the 20 th century American literature. He created many poems all his life, among which Mending Wall is one of the most read ones. It tells a New England farmer’s experience of Mending Wall together with his neighbor. It well represents the characteristics of Frost’s poetry: Written with very simple words and sentences, but conveying deep philosophy. An analysis of Mending Wall from the perspective of stylistics concerning its diction, sentence structure, sound pattern, image and rhetoric device will help understand the poem and appreciate Frost’s unique style.
