Abstract

Donald Perry received his D. Ed. in mathematics education in 1971 from the University of Houston, and has been teaching mathematics at Lee College, Baytown, Texas, for the past seven years. His special area of in terest is the two-year college mathematics curriculum. CUPM has prepared guidelines for those preparing to teach in a two-year college. This study had as its main purpose the examination of the mathematical preparation of two-year college mathematics teachers, using these CUPM recommendations as criteria. Two additional goals were to determine the courses taken by the average teacher and to determine the opinions of the teachers regarding the CUPM recommendations.
