Abstract

A quasi experimental study with one group pre-test and post-test without control group design was conducted among haemodialysis patients, Shri Sardar Smark hospital, Bardoli, to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding life style modification on undergoing haemodialysis patients, 30 patients were selected by convenient non probability method and data was collected by using structured selfadministered questioners and collected data was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Finding revealed that highest percentage (50%) of the patients were in the age group of 30–40 years, 63.33% of the patients were male, majority 93.33% were Hindu, Majority70% of the patients were having associated illness hypertension, Majority 56.66% of the patients were receiving HD treatment since 6 month-1 year. Majority 60% of the samples were receiving HD treatment twice in week. Majority 56.66% of the samples were receiving 3 hours 15 min HD treatment in each HD session. The mean pre-test knowledge score was 12.43 and the mean post-test knowledge score was 24. The mean difference between pre-test and post-test knowledge score was highly significant, t=30.26, p< 0.05 level and no significant association found between pre-test knowledge score in relation to demographical variables of haemodialysis patients.
