Abstract

Introduction:Cancer is a generic term for a large group of diseases that can affect any part of the body. Other terms used are malignant turnsour and neoplasms. One defining feature of cancer is the rapid creation of abnormal cells that grow beyond their usual boundaries, and which can then invade adjoining parts of the body and spread to other organs; the latter process is referred to as metastasis. Widespread metastasis is the primary cause of death from cancer (WHO,2022).Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020, or nearly one in six deaths. Aim of the study is to assess the knowledge of cancer survivors on various aspects of cancer. Material and methods: Prospective observational study design was employed and data collected on 290 cancer survivors attending medical, surgical and radiation oncology OPDs of cancer hospital. Results:Among the sample studied 25.5 percent had low knowledge, 69.3 percent had moderate and only 5.2 had high knowledge on health, nutrition and life style.
