Abstract

The industry demand now a days is good surface finish & machining of complex shapes, conventional machines are unable to achieve the desired results. Wire EDM is one of the non conventional machining process which is used to achieve the desired results. This paper deals with the optimization of surface roughness while machining High Carbon High Chromium steel on Wire Electric Discharge Machine using Brass Wire. Taguchi Single response optimisation technique is used for this study & L9 Orthogonal array is used for the design of experiments. The chosen input parameters are Peak Current, Pulse On time, Pulse off time & Wire tension. For Each Experiment surface roughness is determined. ANNOVA is also conducted to check the significant factors. The observed results are also validated by conducting confirmation experiments.
