Abstract

Web accessibility refers to the development of contents on the Web that can be accessed by everyone regardless of their disabilities. The World Wide Web Consortium developed many rules for the improvement of Web accessibility. Complying with Web standards enhances Web accessibility. HTML5 which has been recently adopted as Web standard also has elements that support accessibility. In this study, the Web accessibility compliance status of domestic websites with a large number of users was examined by evaluating their HTML5 implementation rate and accessibility compliance rate. The results show that the Web accessibility had increased until 2014, but in 2016, the compliance rates of four of six evaluation items decreased while those of two items increased.
