Abstract
In this paper, the pedestrian positioning system based on UWB(Ultra Wide Band) ranging is proposed and its basic characteristic is analyzed. In the safety driving systems, protection of pedestrians is one of the most important topics. In the proposed system, the movements of pedestrians are monitored by the base stations placed at the road sides and the information of dangerous situation against the approaching vehicles is informed using DSRC(Dedicated Short Range Communication). By using UWB, precise positioning against many pedestrians is expected to be archived. In this paper, positioning performance against pedestrians is evaluated by computer simulation assuming the operation at the crossings. As the result, it was confirmed that the proposed UWB ranging scheme can achieve the sufficient precision and can trace the movement of the pedestrian in detail. Moreover, the possibility of successful ranging is also evaluated and the scheme of packet transmission to increase the successful transmission based on the slotted ALOHA scheme is proposed.
