Abstract
In recent years, due to the downward pressure on the mainland economy and the crackdown on corruption, Macao’s casino industry have resulted in a significant decline of VIP customers. The monthly gross revenue in Macao have decreased since June 2014, especially in February 2015, the revenue has decreased by 48.6% as compare to February 2014. Because tourists who visit Macao casinos have dramatically changed, Macao casino industry has tried to construct Integrated Resort (IR) to attract more mass tourists. In this situation, it seems to be essential to understand the behavior of casino tourists to Macao. Current study aims to analyze the relationship between Macao tourists’ experiences and their satisfaction based on Pine and Gilmore (1998)’s experience economy theory. It was found that the escape experience was the most important casino tourists’ pursuit in Macao. The demographic profile of respondents was also used to examine the difference in experience and satisfaction between different groups.
