Abstract
In spite of the theoretical advances in understanding emotions in the workplace, empirical literature has yet to catch up. The evolution of Emotional Intelligence has provided researchers with a means to measure ‗effective‘ utilization of emotion in the workplace and to relate Emotional Intelligent to a number of organizational variables. The researchers study aims at understanding the relationship of emotional intelligence and stress on Information Technology sector employees in Chennai. The research method was a descriptive study. The influence of Emotional Intelligent on selected demographic variables and outcome variables. This study was conducted in Chennai region. The research sample was 340 which were randomly selected from the total population of 1253. It was found from the research that demographic variables like age, gender, occupation significantly contribute to the impact of Emotional Intelligence. And if it is developed properly, a good work life balance can be maintained.
