A Study on the Parents’ Experience and Consciousness in Support of Housing Costs for Independent Children

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore more in-depth experiences and thoughts on support for housing expenses for parents through qualitative research methods. To collect the data, the researcher conducted depth interview with a total of eight parents with independent children from August 13 to September 19, 2019. The results are as follows. 1) Many of the participants in the study provided support for their child’s security deposit of Jeonse or that of monthly rent, and tended to recommend Jeonse as much as possible. 2) It was found that there was a change in the traditional values and consciousness of the homes that the parent generation has had from burden of supporting housing expenses for children. 3) The economic burden of supporting the housing cost of children affected parents
