Abstract
Since the phase field of titanium silicon carbide (Ti 3SiC 2) is very narrow, it often coexists with TiC grains. In this work, the orientation relationship (OR) between Ti 3SiC 2 and TiC grains is investigated, which is propitious to know the nucleation of Ti 3SiC 2 in the TiC matrix. The orientation relationships between Ti 3SiC 2 and TiC grains are (111)TiC(0001)Ti 3SiC 2, (111̄)TiC(202̄5̄)Ti 3SiC 2, (002̄)TiC(101̄5)Ti 3SiC 2 and [110]TiC[1̄21̄0]Ti 3SiC 2, which indicates that the interface of Ti 3SiC 2 and TiC is (0001)Ti 3SiC 2 and (111)TiC coherent interface.
