Abstract

This research paper aims to implement a GPS receiver that can simultaneously receive L1 and L2 frequencies, and proposes a Weaver dual-band image reject mixer obtained by using a quadrature mixer with a shared trans-conductor unit. The quadrature mixer compensates LO phase error, and can improve the image reject ratio (IMRR) without additional calibration or compensating circuitry. A dual-band image reject mixer was designed and a prototype was fabricated using the 0.25-µm CMOS process, and it was confirmed that the IMRR, which is limited by the precision of the 1st LO polyphase filter, is improved from 41 dB to a maximum of 64 dB. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
