Abstract
The establishment of British administration in Sikkim brought about changes in different spheres of administration. For smooth functioning of colonial administration in Sikkim and its Indo-Tibetan trade, administrative infrastructure was gradually being developed. A need was also felt for the introduction of modern education in the country. Therefore, from the beginning of the 20th century steps were taken for the establishment of modern educational institutions in Sikkim.
