Abstract

Based on the newly established knowledge of effective idling stop time, which is more than 5 seconds, the problem of traffic flow influenced by idling stop at the time of the waiting for a signal was reconsidered. Based on the outdoor experiments, possible timing of starting an engine which does not lead to the delay of departture was discussed.Consequently, as far as the first three vehicles are concerned, the engine restart timings after idling stops should be earlier than the beginning of the green phase.
