Abstract

A study was conducted on technology adoption and knowledge gain from training in seven villages of the Dakshin Dinajpur district within the jurisdiction of Dakshin Dinajpur Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK). Data collected from randomly selected 150 farmers revealed that 50 percent of them adopted the KVK admonitions at a medium level, while the rest of the surveyed farmers showed low and high levels of adoption in equal percentage. This survey also revealed that after training, 64% of trainees gathered knowledge of advanced practices at a medium level, while 20% and 16% of respondents remained at low and high degrees, respectively. Respondent attributes encompassing education, subinfeudation, social engagement, socio-economic position and farmers' entanglement in the agro-based program were observed significantly correlated with the resultant effect of KVK training on farmers' enactment behavioral knowledge. In addition, circumstantial, psychological, and communication variables expressed a significant liaison with the impact of training on adoption behavior and learning acquisition.
