Abstract

Through an analysis of the characterization of non-live-action Nezha in 20 movie works, this thesis explores how cultural archetypes have been modernized and reconstructed in the works, and how this pluralistic creation relates to the socio-economic and cultural development of China. It is concluded that cultural archetypes are not static. Influenced by socio- cultural development, archetypal images are open-ended and can be referred to as fluid archetypes. Compared with narrative archetypes, structural archetypes, and figurative archetypes, value archetypes are the most important factors in the adaptation of cultural archetypes.
