Abstract
The purpose of this study is to clarify the formation of children's "contextual relationship between children and their living area" by focusing on their “learning” about the area through their pictorial map making in the “Ako Pictorial Map Contest”. As a result of analyzing the multi-year works of continuous participants, the children created their works triggered by active learning, and learning from others by involved in the process of making revealed a connection to the area formed in individuals, such as "a positive image of the area ", "a sense of ownership in the community".
