Abstract

Low cycle fatigue tests were conducted on single crystal Ni-base superalloy (CMSX-4) at room temperature. Smooth round straight bars and circumferentially notched round bars with <001> and <111> orientation were prepared to investigate the effect of stress concentration and crystallographic orientation on fatigue life. A simple approach is proposed for the assessment of low cycle fatigue life of single crystal Ni-base superalloy using material-dependent master curve, which is applicable to specimens with different stress concentration and crystallographic orientation.
