Abstract

It is important for spatial planning and urban transformation to determine and manage all the information about the buildings damaged after the earthquake. In this respect, the first damage assessments should be made as quickly and practically as possible, especially immediately after the earthquake. Within the scope of this study, the reinforced concrete structure damage classification given in the European Macro-Seismic Scale (EMS) was used, taking into account five different earthquakes in Turkey. Sample buildings were identified for five different degrees of damage foreseen in the EMS. In addition to the information about these earthquakes, seismic parameters were obtained for the earthquake epicenters. The peak ground acceleration values measured for all earthquakes considered in the study were compared with the currently recommended peak acceleration values.
