Abstract
The degree adverb <em>"xiangdang" </em>is derived from the adjective <em>"xiangdang"</em>, and the boundary between the adverb and the adjective usage is still very vague due to its special grammaticalization development. The degree quantity in semantic content should be taken as the basis for judging the nature of word category when <em>"xiangdang"</em> modifies the noun. As long as it means "high degree", it should be judged as a degree adverb, and <em>"xiangdang"</em> bears the semantic function of the implicit positive modifier. <em>"Xiangdang<sub>adv</sub>"</em> is still in the stage of transition from grammaticalized to more grammaticalized, so it has the descriptive personality function and the same general function as other degree adverbs. At the synchronic level, <em>"xiangdang<sub>adv</sub>" </em>divides into "xiangdang<sub>adv1</sub>" and "xiangdang<sub>adv2</sub>".The former tends to combine with abstract nouns that express objective quantities such as <em>"shuliang"</em> and <em>"guimo"</em>, forming a special "Degree adverb + Noun" structure.
