Abstract

The importance of the attributes of casino dealers has been studied by many scholars, suggesting that the attributes of casino dealers plays an important role in the formation player’s satisfaction and behavioral intentions. However, there is no study, focusing on the effect of table game players’ characteristics on the attributes of casino dealers. Therefore, this study tried to investigate whether (1) four dimensions of the attributes of casino dealers have the acceptable level of reliability and validity (i.e. expertise, likeability, customer orientation, and physical appearance) and (2) there are significant differences in the attributes of casino dealers based on players’ characteristics such as demographic profiles and gambling characteristics. The data were collected from 227 casino table game players in the United States. The results indicated that four dimensions of the attributes of casino dealers have high levels of reliability and validity. In addition, there were statistical differences in demographic profiles including gender, age, and income level and gambling characteristics such as the ability as a player of table game, career, and frequency. The important theoretical/managerial implications are presented and discussed in the last part of the article.
