Abstract

Summary A number of GABA-analogues were synthesized and tested as inhibitors of 3H-GABA binding to synaptic membranes of rat brain. The results obtained, coupled with previous findings, support the hypothesis of a tridentate electrostatic interaction between GABA agonists and GABA receptor sites in mammalian brain and point to its strict steric requirements.
