Abstract

Separation technology involving use of semi-permeable membranes is playing an important role in various fields of medicine and industry. Studies on reduction of separation time by use of ultrasound have been attempted. These studies have been mainly on plain flat membranes, though use of tube membranes has spread rapidly. In this paper circular irradiation of ultrasound using a cylindrical radiator which is appropriate for tube membranes is described. It was found that separation speed was 21% higher in the case of circular irradiation than in that of conventional flat irradiation.
