Abstract

In order to clarify soil propagation mechanism of traffic-induced vibration, soil surface responses excited by vertical and horizontal force focused on the frequency characteristics are examined based on numerical analyses, theory of surface wave, and field observations. Relationships between natural frequency of surface soil and frequency at which wave with large amplitude propagates at distant points are examined. In the case of two-layer soil, vertical displacement amplitude excited by vertical point force becomes the largest at twice the natural frequency at distant points. Horizontal displacement amplitude excited by horizontal point force becomes the largest at the natural frequency at distant points.
