Abstract

This study analyzes the risk and risk factors of fire based on the location of a specific firefighting object where an electric vehicle charging area is installed, and proposes a way to ensure safety through fire risk assessment. First, as an institutional measure, individuals should be prohibited from installing charging areas in high-risk underground parking lots. Second, as a managerial measure, fire agencies should develop and disseminate standardized charging-area checklists and manuals. Third, as a structural measure, the charging area should be fire-protected or bulkheads should be installed. Fourth, as a facility measure, a dedicated firefighting facility and smoke control and ventilation systems should be installed in the charging areas. Fifth, firefighting measures should be equipped with dedicated firefighting equipment in the case of new constructions.
