Abstract

Electromagnetic shunt damping is one of the sensorless vibration control techniques using an electromagnetic transducer and a shunt circuit. The shunt circuit can be regarded as a controller, and some previous works have proposed various shunt circuits such as R-C series circuit, negative resistance circuit, and negative inductance and negative resistance circuit. These shunt circuits are fragile with the parameter variations. This paper proposes two shunt circuits, parallel R-C circuit and parallel L-R circuit, for the robust electromagnetic shunt damping based on μ-synthesis. The proposed shunt circuits improve the robust stability and the robust performance compared with the conventional R-C series circuit.
