Abstract

A person with one eye missing, due to various causes, may suffer psychologically as well as physically. The lost eye can be mechanically replaced by an ocular implant. Significant advances have been made in this area. An ocular prosthesis was created to replace the lost eye. The prosthesis appears natural physically. However, the eye is static or has small movement ability. The purpose of this paper is to develop an autonomous ocular motor system, so the artificial eye can have more natural movement. Detection of movement of the natural eye is an important issue. A review of eye movement detection methods is included in this paper. Then fusion method is designed for eye movement detection. First the eye movement is recorded and stored as sensed data space. Then during the experiment, the eye movement signal is obtained through the sensor array and through the matching rule, the eye position is obtained. The main part of this paper deals with the experimental system, fusion technologies, and preliminary results.
