Abstract
Communication between human brain and computer system is provided by Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI). BCI was basically developed to help the disabled to lead a better life. But with the advancement in technology and neuroscience devices, there is a slight change in the research directions so as to make fictions into reality. Music related BCI's are one such area of research which is emerging in recent days. This paper provides a narrowed view of research papers based on audio signal processing and brain signal processing. In audio signal processing the reviewed papers are related to Western music and Indian Music. In brain signal processing area, BCI's developed for western music such as brain signals controlled music player, music composition, music evaluation, changes in brain signals when listening to different music, musical interfaces etc. are considered. Later paper provides details regarding Indian classical music and its effects on brain waves. The vision of this study is to highlight the survey of BCIs focusing on music and then narrowing the view towards Indian music in conclusion.
