Abstract

With the influence of medical technology progress and social change, the birthrate and the mortality decline, that leads to aging population seriously in Taiwan. Because of the aging society, the government respond to plan and construct the long-term care system for the elderly to aging in place. Despite is widely adopted in many countries already; the smart home system also causes privacy concern to the consumers. This study is to investigate the impact of the product knowledge, involvement, perceived risk and purchase intention caused by the smart home to the potential elderly consumers. This study was performed by collecting the questionnaire from the potential consumers who have never used any smart home system in Taiwan. A total of 320 effective questionnaires were received. This study showed that the product knowledge and involvement are both correlated with the potential consumers' perceived risk and intention of purchase. Besides, the perceived risk significantly moderates the product knowledge and involvement of potential consumers and their intention of purchase.
