Abstract

This study is an analysis of faculty satisfaction in a government educational institution in India. The study highlights a causal model structural equation modelling (SEM), incorporating the five job characteristics dimensions and three critical psychological states proposed by Hackman and Oldham. In this study these dimensions are considered on the basis of their importance and factors which motivate the faculty internally for their job satisfaction. Results reveal that the prioritised dimensions of faculty job satisfaction are based on autonomy that is, the psychological state which makes them responsible for the outcomes of the work. The meaningfulness of their job and knowledge of the actual result of their job also contribute to the job satisfaction of faculty.
