Abstract

The calculated values by the theory described in Part 1 have been compared with the experimental results, and good agreements have been obtained for both the internal flow conditions and the performance of a vortex pump. Next, the effects of the width of chamber and blading, inlet pipe diameter and the impeller diameter on the performance of a vortex pump have been investigated experimentally. From above experimental data, the optimum size of impeller width, inlet pipe diameter and the chamber width to impeller diameter could be determined. For the purpose of the prediction of the performance and the application to the design method, the experimental data have been arranged in the relations between the performance and the optimum size. Then, the design charts have been proposed, and a concrete design example is illustrated. Lastly, the three dimensional flow conditions in chamber are described.
