A Study on Image Annotation Techniques

Abstract

With the development of mobile device, large amount of digital images are generated every day. The requirements of effective indexing and searching image are growing rapidly. Image annotation is an effective way for content based image retrieval. This paper gives a review of different categories for image annotation. The paper also gives a brief overview of different methods for image annotation under SemiAutomatic and Automatic annotations. Manual annotation is a costly and time consuming work, especially for mobile device. General Terms Context, Image annotation, Retrieval.
