Abstract
In this paper a new generalized coordinate system-HCS-is developed to lay the foundations for treating helical slow wave structures. As an example, calculated results of a practical slow wave structure using helical coordinates are given. It can be concluded that the helical coordinates developed here are rigorous and successful, and can be further applied to solve other problems relative to helical structures.
