Abstract

The objective of the thesis is to clarify the characteristics from the train window. It treats a description of landscape between Tokyo station and Ofuna station on Toukaidou-line, in comparison with other descriptions or drawing of Edo and Meiji Era. The three characteristics of landscape are based on the following, 1. Emphasized information and their sequential linear connection, 2. Landscape generating processes from fragmentary information, 3. Reconstitution of geographical images. As a conclusion, the landscape from train window is explained as heterogeneous landscape reflecting these characteristics.
