Abstract
Fiber Bragg Grating plays a major role in optical communication and sensing applications in emerging technologies. This paper focuses on the working principle of the Fiber Bragg Grating sensors, various fabrication techniques, different types of Fiber Bragg Gratings and its recent real-time applications, such as, structural health monitoring systems for aircraft, underwater acoustics and in the Oil and Gas Industry. The wide advantages of Fiber Bragg Grating are studied and reviewed which shows that the Fiber Bragg Grating is more sensitive, cost-effective, light-weighted and have no electromagnetic interference over the conventional sensors. This study builds up the next level of understanding on Fiber Bragg Gratings which could be applied in various applications.
