A Study on existing Friend Recommendation Systems in social Networks

Abstract

With increasing popularity of social media sites, friend recommendation systems have become increasingly important. With increasing number of teenagers, who feel lonely and depressed, friend recommendation systems can help in connecting the user to the right set of friends, who may help them to tackle the above-mentioned problems. Existing homophily-based friend recommendation systems that are used in social media does not provide accurate results. There is a need to design a friend recommendation systems that cater to the needs of the user and also help friends to connect wi th each other in real life. In this paper, various friend recommendation systems are developed to analyse the location, li festyle, and personality. This paper is concluded by proposing a system that combines the above - mentioned systems and is planned to provide personalized friend recommendations.
