Abstract

In this paper, a new approach for the evaluation of the hypersingular and strongly singular integrals in the integral representation for the boundary potential gradients is presented for twodimensional potential problems. In the present formulation the conventional conforming interpolation scheme can still be employed but it gives us erroneous results. It is shown through a numerical demonstration that the employment of the higher order interpolation scheme for the potential dramatically improves the accuracy of the results than by the refinement of the mesh with the conventional interpolation scheme.
