Abstract

The effects of sulphur and phosphorous on the mechanical characteristics (tensile and compressive strength) of C45 steel were investigated in this research work. Because C45 steel is frequently utilized in automotive components, pipelines, couplings, axels, and other applications, it is critical to understand its strength when compared with two percentage variation of sulphur and phosphorous. The factors like tensile and compressive properties were analysed for specific variations of sulphur and phosphorous in this work. (Variation-1 with Sulphur 0.006 % & Phosphorous 0.013% and Variation-2 with Sulphur 0.017 % & Phosphorous 0.025 %). The results indicate that the specimen tensile and compressive strength increases with increase in sulphur and phosphorous percentage by small margin.
