Abstract

The purpose of this study is to derive indoor environmental factors which people recognize and consider when they evaluate the comfort indoor environment in subway stations. The descriptive evaluation of the indoor environment in subway stations was conducted. Through the analysis of open-ended questions, specific indoor environmental factors which affect to subway overall comfort could be derived. The survey was conducted in the winter from February 15th to 17th, 2016. The 25 person’s evaluation answers to six stations were collected with the subway station visits; on average, there appeared to be 242 written evaluation sentences. A lot of the indoor environmental factors mentioned by the evaluation respondents were related to Physical environmental factors, Design, and Facilities related items. When we use these factors as the questions in survey questionnaire, more accurate and effective evaluations could be gathered from subway users in the future.
