The circular economy is a fundamental principle of sustainable packaging, where materials are recycled or composted after their lifetime. The process involves collaborating from raw material suppliers to manufacturers, retailers, and consumers. Consumers have increasingly called for sustainable packaging in recent years due to growing awareness of the harmful effects of packaging waste. Businesses have increasingly adopted sustainable packaging as a strategy to decrease their environmental impact and enhance brand image, which has also been observed. Nonetheless, the application of sustainable packaging solutions can be problematic due to the high cost associated with research and development initiatives, as well as changes in infrastructure and processes.
