Abstract

There are some characteristics in the heat exchanger with frosting which differ from those in common heat exchangers. In particular, thermal resistance not only increases with growing of a frost layer but also depends on the position of the heat exchanger. In this paper, the characteristics of heat exchanger with frosting have been studied experimentally and theoretically, using a double pipe heat exchanger in parallel flow. Frost properties were connected with the frost growth under the condition where air temperature and humidity change in the direction of air flow. The characteristic analysis of the heat exchanger was presented based on the frost growth under a frost structural model and was good agreement with the experimental results.
