Abstract

In a Reproduction System, consumer behavior that is so complicated and depends on individual habits, social conventions, institutions, and neighbors’ behavior is put into the Black Box. This paper presents an alternative consumption theory in terms of Multiple-self that describes a conflict between the roles which individuals bear in a society, and attempts to explain economic effects such as Veblen effects and some elasticity of demand for households, without using marginal utility theory.
